5Great general purpose laptop for the price
By Armadillo1
I did a lot of research before selecting to purchase two of these computers as Christmas presents. I was a bit worried about what I would get for the low price I paid for these on Amazon.com, but so far have been very pleased. Both machines booted up and worked equally well right out of the box. The machine boots up faster than the the thinkpad I use for work (less than 50 seconds even after a windows update, 32 seconds out of the box). The screen is clear and bright and the Intel HD 3000 video is everything needed for everyday use (of course this is not a gaming machine). Wireless connectivity worked great one floor up from my router with no hiccups after a heavy testing. One of these went to my 10 year old son and he can play internet based games like Minecraft and Roblox with ease and with good video response. The included software is nice, especially the webcam utilities which was a big hit for with my son, as he can make videos with special effects with ease. Construction is sturdy, but not something you would want for heavy business travel. The mouse is ok and works well, but not as nice as I have used on more expensive machines. DVD playback worked and looked great. DVD recording was tested making recovery discs and worked fine, though it took a while. Performance is pretty good for a machine in this price range and much better than I expected. In short, this is a nice machine for everyday home use and general purpose business computing. It offers much better performance than I expected for the price and am very happy with it. My five star rating is with respect to the price I paid for this and other machines I reviewed in the same price range, but not compared to higher end products.

4great for home use
By mtiny
I was in need of a new laptop and gave this lenovo one a try. I love how the keys sound and the ease of navigating around the keyboard. It is pretty fast for my day to day usage (email, online surfing, videos) and has a big enough screen to view most of the screens that I need. I like how sleek this looks (black color) and I also like the webcam. The face verify system does not work, but I am not sure if I would want it anyway. Overall, a good purchase for the price.

1Lenovo hard drive FAILED after 4 months & (update) now they LOST it during service.
By Just Jakey
I purchased the Lenovo G570 for the components and memory, as well as good price. The computer is used about 3 times per week for less than an hour a day and after 4 months the hard drive failed. This was not due to a virus, or any other "malware" related issue - the hard drive simply failed. No bootable device, check cable connection, black screen. Apparently a common problem when I googled this to try to find out how to fix it since the company does NOT include a disk when you buy the computer. I called customer support and was put on hold for 20 minutes, then transferred to the IBM "thinkpad" department. The gentleman on the other end of the line (obviously not in the United States, which makes it even harder to communicate) attempted to troubleshoot by having me restart the computer and press F8, which did nothing except give me the black screen again. He stated since we could not get into that area of the computer and since the computer does not come with a disk (no windows, no back up, no bootable disc) that I would need to PAY to ship the computer to them so they could wipe it and reformat the drive. The "rescue" button did nothing as well, so the advertisement that this will help your computer or any problems, is simply a marketing ploy for the computer, because it did NOTHING. The hard drive failed and it would either need to be reformatted or replaced. Customer support stated they would have the computer for 7 - 10 business days (which is 2 weeks) and that any information I had on the computer is going to be wiped (gone) when I get it back unless I wanted to pay for premium support. It would be my belief that if a computer that I paid $500 for, failed in the first 4 months of use, that the company should either send me a disk to repair it myself, include it with the computer, or THEY should be paying for me to send it in, and to get my information off of it. I will NEVER buy another Lenovo and would recommend that nobody else does either.***UPDATE MARCH 2012 - I shipped the computer in to the service address given on January 28th, it is now March 10th and I have called to find out where my computer is. Apparently, they have lost it. A gentleman from service, named John, even called us and asked why our computer was there. We shipped it in with a note explaining our name, address and information given by Lenovo customer support, as well as what the problem was. Why do they now need to call me, should that be in their notes? Now, they cannot even find the computer. They don't even show a "case" log. Luckily we wrote down the name of the person and his ID number when we first called, and now have a new case - just no computer for them to work on since they do not know where it is. I told the guy on the phone, you obviously have it since we show proof of delivery and someone called asking what was wrong with it? Thankfully we have a UPS tracking number that shows it was delivered there or I would be out $500. They have not called us back to inform us if they found it, what is going on with it or anything.... and this has now been another week. TERRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH ALL AROUND!
