4Good mid-level gaming laptop
By Aelwulf
This laptop isn't perfect, but I've yet to find one that is (price is a factor so no, high end ones aren't either). It works great for what I bought it for: to do assignments and work tasks while away from home, keep tabs online and play games. The main pros are that is has decent HD and RAM, both of which are upgradable. It has a built-in webcam which is useful for keeping in touch with the family and good speakers. My wife keeps swiping mine when at home to watch her shows since mine has a larger screen, but mostly because of the sound. It has a dedicated graphics card which was a must for me for games. One of the USB ports can be made to charge other electronics such as cell phones or MP3 players even if the laptop is off. It charges slower and takes power from the battery if not plugged in, but it's still a better option than nothing. It has an easy to use memory card reader on the front, a number of USB ports, an HDMI port that my wife and I have used frequently and headphone/mic ports on the side that are useful for headphones and chatting for Skype, games or anything else. If you don't need to use many of the power-hungry functions it has a one-button eco mode you can turn on and off to save power. The main cons I've had with it are the reason for one star being knocked off. I had a slight issue with sticking keyboard keys when I first bought it, but that's worked itself out. After the first year the small 'USB' connection on the webcam came loose. Easy fix, just had to pull the plastic around the monitor off a bit then screw it back down as it was. The big issues are battery life and, to a lesser extent, heat. The stock battery doesn't last long-only about two hours or so. You get maybe an hour if using games with any kind of decent graphics. You can get a 12-cell battery that should extend that time to 2-4 hours. But that doesn't usually affect me much as I typically have it plugged in. My laptop is more for something to use once I get someplace than while getting there. The other is that with the graphics card and decent CPU in it, etc it does run quite hot. If you leave your hand right next to the exhaust once it gets going it's almost painful. Propping the back side of the laptop on something typically gives it enough airflow that this becomes a minor issue. A cooler would work too but is optional. The available 12-cell battery pack also serves this function as it holds the back side up off the surface some due to its size. The keyboard has some lighted indicators but it'd be nice if the keys themselves were lit as well. The light can be turned off so you'd still save power when it's not needed. On the webcam I wouldn't say it's a con, but it would've been nice to make it a 2MP rather than a 1.3MP. It still works fine, I just like my 2MP one at home better. All in all I'd say this laptop is worth the money if you get it on sale, but if you pay full retail they're mostly just charging you for the 3D etc. The 3D is cool to have, but the Blu-Ray player has had issues playing numerous titles. This isn't a fault of the laptop so much as a fault on Toshiba for not updating their software patches for download to keep compatibility current. I'll likely be going with a 3rd party program which should resolve the issue.Personally I'm looking at upgrading the RAM to 8GB, mostly just for the gaming. If you don't game you shouldn't have any issues, but if you don't game I'd honestly recommend looking at something with an integrated graphics card. You'll get better life out of your battery and a lower price. The only other reason I could see wanting the graphics card is if you're really into your movies. It might be an extra booster there as well.

1Not a long lasting laptop at all
By Juank
It worked very well at the begining, but after some time the hard drive just died in a minute and the battery too, one day working, the next day didnt, all the information lost and know it is like a desktop because of the dead battery. It also suffers of overheating, must be used with cooling base. Not recomended at all.
