Worked well before the dying in less than a month.

I ordered this laptop on August 19, 2011. It is now September 7, 2011.The laptop worked decently from day 1, it had a dirty problem of taking "forever" to boot up and/or awaken from Sleep mode. Despite the claims of a 2x faster boot speed the system felt like a 3x longer boot speed (Was actually longer, upwards of 3-4 minutes to load windows)I've only used the laptop a few days at school to type out notes, etc. and once when visiting a friend. Today at school after class, I turned it on and it froze opening programs almost immediately but the system was still responsive, so I rebooted. Upon Windows logging off, it froze once more for around 10 minutes before finally turning off. When I pressed the power button to turn it back on, it immediately entered a bios error screen and prompted me to install or replace boot media. Straight sign that there's an error reading the HDD, either a connector, motherboard or HDD failure.I've just started the return process for this order so I will respond once I have a working replacement.Besides this issue and the slow boot times, the system worked well. Had no other issues. I can only account that I was unlucky with my machine but I still believe that this was a good laptop to purchase.P.S. I had not read that the screen was high-gloss (highly reflective), quite annoying in well lit areas, especially outside (almost unusable in sunlight).

A good buy

I was worried about buying this refurbished, but the product arrived in perfect condition. Here are some more detailed observations:Keyboard: Its full size and easy to type with. Full num pad, F1-F7 can be used with the Fn key, which brings me to my next point.Fn Key: I have to say I found the controls with the Fn a bit wonky. Tap twice to shift between 4 virtual desktops. I haven't had much use for this, but perhaps if you have a need for clandestine computing it would come in handy. The main reason I wasn't crazy about the Fn key, though, is to toggle F1-F7, you hit the Fn key and then the F key, instead of holding Fn. This drives me crazy because using Fn exits anything you have in full screen and brings up a small menu at the bottom of the screen with the various functions. Want to adjust volume with watching a movie in full screen with Fn? Forget about it.Timestamp: The button can be very hard to find. You actually have to push down on the silver bar beneath the speaker on the left side of the computer. I had a bizarre issue where the CPU would spike to 100 percent whenever I began typing. Not sure why this happened, but I used timestamp to restore and the issue was gone and hasn't returned since.Speakers: The speakers by themselves are just as crappy as your usual built-in laptop speakers. This shouldn't be a surprise, really. However, when using the SRS PC sound control panel that comes installed, the speakers actually sound good enough to enjoy music in acceptable quality. However, it still doesn't compare to having high quality external speakers or headphones.Other than that, its a great laptop. Normal computer usage never brings the CPU over %10 usage, and 4 GB of ram is enough for most computing tasks. I will probably upgrade to 8GB at some point anyways.
