So far, unimpressed

Just purchased this model on November 2nd, as my previous Gateway that I had for four years was destroyed by my young son. So far the behavior of this laptop is not expected of something that I spent about $1,000 on! It's blue-screened and gone into restore mode twice -- both times unsure why. No, it's not my son. We keep him away from it. Now all of a sudden, the sound has just spontaneously turned off; it is no longer working. I purchased an extended warranty on this (I did not buy it through Amazon) and I am seriously considering calling the warranty department to see if I can get a replacement if my husband cannot figure out what is wrong with the sound. My Gateway NEVER exhibited behavior like this. I admit that I may be a little tough on my laptops and I may not be a completely technically savvy user. But this is brand new and I hardly have anything installed on it and I've only surfed the web with it. For almost 1,000 bucks I expect more reliability and I expect it to not blue screen at the drop of a hat!Update on the sound issue (12/13/12): If anybody else has the problem of your sound spontaneously not working, visit this url for help: [...]My husband/technical support found this link and executed the steps and now the sound is working again. This is a known issue with HP. Hope I have saved some people out there some aggravation! Also I hope this fix sticks!Cheers!
