5Nearly perfect after 2 years of looking
By Allison Shapiro
Much better speakers than almost any other laptop brand (definitely better quality than HP's Beats Audio) Dell's laptops seem to have better sound, but I would say be weary of Dell's ability to break down more easily. The size is perfect. You really don't need a larger screen in your face since a laptop sits very close to you, differently from a desktop. I thought it would feel more plastic like, but it feels nice, almost like metal and the finish is very expensive looking. I've watched movies on it and it's a great quality watching experience. The best part of all is it's inability to get hot! I'm serious. After hours of using it, it will only get slightly warm in one spot, while the rest of it remains cool to the touch. This is on highest power. This would be due to it's 4 vents on the bottom and one main one on the side. They are made with high quality copper which allows them to work so well. I've had this computer for about a month and really nothing comes to mind as bad about it. This is a high quality machine and the best specs for it's price. Buy it!

5Great value, solid laptop for the price.
By MMonty
Used the laptop for the past three days. Hesitant to purchase due to only two reviews on Amazon and not much useful information on the web. My 5th Toshiba laptop purchase over the past 7/8 years. My brief opinion; nice, smaller laptop that is comfortable on your lap (not too heavy) and perfectly sized for portability. I especially like the textured finish on the keyboard and on the top of the unit. IMO laptop is very quiet, minimal fan noise. Laptop is fast, responsive, speakers have decent quality sound but, maximum volume isn't especially loud. Keyboard, while not backlit, is comfortable when typing. I've had no blue screens, lockups, suspicious error messages, overheating or the like while I've been using this laptop. I've been running the latest Adobe Photoshop Elements the past couple of days and it has handled the power hungry, tempermental program with no problems. Battery life could be a little better. Averaging 3.5-4 hours (not on Eco mode obviously). Paid $669 for the laptop and plan to purchase an additional one. A little problem with slow shipping but, Amazon customer service was especially helpful and went above and beyond. Overall very pleased with the laptop and Amazon customer service.

5Really good computer for the price!
By bricker66
This is a great computer for the price.Pros:Did not get hot at all.Great portability compared to a 15 inch laptop.Quality built.Great speakers.Fast and able to run multiple programs at once.Good looking.Booted up quickly. No extra unneeded software added on.WiFi setup easily.Toshiba kept it simple on this laptop.Good battery life.Really liked the back lit keyboard. It really does come in handy.Cons:No bluray player.Resolution is good but not as good as my HP Pavilion G6.I bought this computer for my girlfriend for college. But I really liked it compared to my HP 15 inch laptop. She didn't need anything fancy, but if I was in the market for another laptop I would consider buying another Toshiba.

5Awesome, but a few minor issues to be aware of.
By PuterGeek2
I bought this laptop through Dell. The only difference between the one advertised here and mine, is I have a 1TB HDD, and 8 Gigs of RAM.Pros: VERY speedy processor. Big bright screen, with beautiful color reproduction. Full sized keyboard with numeric keypad. The mouse pad is smooth, and easy to use. This laptop runs cooler than other Dell Laptops I have owned. The graphics card makes for good gaming on even the most current games. The webcam is very nice, and is full HD. There are FOUR USB ports, two of which are speedy 3.0. Great battery life for a laptop of this size. Amazing sound for a laptop. Although some don't like the placement of the speakers, you will be impressed with what you hear.Cons: VERY SLOW BOOTING. This was a known issue I was aware of before purchase. For those who don't know, all Inspiron 17s no matter what the configuration, take well over two minutes to be able to start surfing the web. (This is due to the slow 5400 RPM HDD.) This laptop is Heavy. The keyboard is not backlit. (Dell never claimed it was, but it is something I hope they remedy in the future) The finish is a fingerprint magnet. The screen is very reflective if used outdoors. However, as this is more of a "Desktop Replacement," I assume that wont be an issue for most.Windows Experience is very impressive:Processor: 7.5Memory: 7.6 (That is with 8 gigs 1333 MHZ)Graphics: 6.6Gaming Graphics: 6.6Primary hard Disk: 7.9 (Upgraded to a SSD)(Six month review) The issue with slow booting is gone. I installed and cloned all partitions of the slow 1 TB 5400 HDD, (5.9 WEI) to a Kingston SSD. (7.9 WEI) Now my boot time is about 15 seconds from BIOS to ready to go! No issues, still works like a champ!!(EIGHT MONTH UPDATE) 12-22-12: Had first issue with the Laptop. Several pixels ended up "stuck," leaving a line about an inch long, on the display. I messaged a Dell Tech On Line last Friday, and the defective Screen was replaced without question, on Monday. Granted, the new screen has two random dead pixels, but was a sealed, new unit so aside from that, am very pleased with the experience. The service was fast, and no money out of my pocket. Dell Support is amazing, and those who complain about about it, must just hate the Company. Thanks Dell, for taking care of the issue so quickly!!All in all I LOVE this laptop. I truly hope this information helps you.

4Great computer, full keypad!
By c2
If you're like me and prefer the full keyboard over the minute boards they normally put into these laptops, then be sure to check this out! I waited for about a year to find something like this and voila, here it is! Tons of memory, a fast processor, and the full keyboard. However, you may want to check out the price on the local shopping network that begins with a q. I bought mine from them and received a TON of extras, programs, etc. for less than what they're charging here for just the computer and a battery. The battery has a tremendous long life, the memory is huge - tons of gaming possibilities, you can run a million different programs at once, and the thing is lightening fast. We bought this to go with our AT&T U-verse subscription since our old 512mb old "dog" computer just couldn't keep up with all the live streaming, gaming, and research that we have to perform. Normally, we buy the larger 21 inch screens to attach to the laptops but this guy, with the 17-inch screen, REALLY helps and you really can do without it. I've had mine for 4 months now and it is just a wonderful purchase - one of those things you know you spent "well."Grab it but shop around first for price. Again, the q makes it a great value but their best values, if you can wait, is around Christmas. You just cannot beat the quality of a Dell, an Intel processor, and windows 7. HIghly recommend!

5Not a Paid Spammer
By Deborah Puckett
I got this laptop 2 days ago. It came a day early... Thank you Amazon! It was up and running within minutes of being out of its box. It is a very sturdy machine, mostly metal, which is what I wanted. I travel about half the year in a truck so delicate machines just don't work for me. There wasn't really anything on the computer that I would consider to be bloatware. It runs as cool as a cucumber. I can sometimes hear the fan but it isn't a big deal. It is a "pretty" computer in an unusual sort of way. The keyboard is excellent for a touch typist. I like the option of turning off the touchpad while doing a lot of typing. The touchpad works just fine. The display is very good quality. I was afraid it wouldn't work well in sunlight but I can see the display in outdoor light (unless it is turned directly into the sun but who does that?)with no real problem save a little glare from the shiny surface of the screen. I'm not a computer geek and don't know much about the inner workings of a computer but I like this one. It works without alot of fuss and it is fast enough for a pretty impatient person! I have owned an old Macbook which I loved but could not afford to replace. I have owned a Compaq and a Sony Vaio. This computer, so far, is a better made machine than the Compaq or the Sony. I haven't had to deal with HP's Concierge Service or any other support service, which is a good thing, so I can't comment on that. I did a lot of research before making this purchase and I'm happy with the choice I made.

5Love it!
By Brandon
First off, I must say that the description of this computer does it no justice, and neither do the pictures. This is a gorgeous machine. The laser-etchings on the outer shell make this a uniquely designed laptop that you won't see everywhere. The audio (beats by dre) sounds outstanding, at least for a laptop. For best sound quality, hook up a pair of your favorite headphones, beats or not, and prepare to be amazed. For the price, this computer can't be beaten. The keyboard is nice, especially when backlit and it is extremely easy to type on. Despite complaints in user reviews on other sites, the touchpad is actually not half-bad. People complained the multi-touch didn't work, yet I find that it works nicely. This is a very fast and user-friendly computer and it has a whole load of features that laptops in the same price range do not include. I give it 5 stars and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good, solid laptop.

4Premium design and features, but may be a bit too big for some...
By Neo
The HP Envy series has always been regarded as one of the best premium Windows laptops and this model is no exception. Make no mistake you will feel proud of this laptop's design. It is absolutely first-class. However, keep in mind it is a bit on the big side. While a little over an inch thick may not seem hefty, in practice I found when closed the laptop still seems a bit chunky. It doesn't help it's also pretty hefty in weight thanks to the all metal construction. Basically, it's far from "thin and light." If you're going to be carrying this around often that may be a concern. The flipside to that is what I stated before, the design of this laptop is simply exquisite. Performance has also been very good. In my use it's always booted up very fast, particularly when coming back from stand-by. It also runs relatively quiet and cool. At times the fan can be audible, but not loud or distracting by any means. Still, you have to remember there's a lot of computer under the hood. Gaming is fairly respectable. Don't expect to play games like Modern Warfare 3 or Skyrim on high settings, but the simple fact it can run games like that with medium settings should give you a sense of how it handles graphics.Overall, I'm satisifed with this laptop. Heavy weight and thickness, when closed, aside, you can't go wrong, especially in the $849.99-899.99 price range. However, if you truly want something that's thin and light, look elsewhere. This is not as thin or light as some may hope. If you're wanting something truly thin and light, look at models like the Sony Vaio S Series or Dell 14z, but keep in mind those will probably run you more money for an inch less in thickness and about two pounds less in weight.

5Toshiba Laptop
By Wisconsin
I have had my new Toshiba 14" Laptop for approximately a month and it is a "gem".Shipping was super fast via the Free Ship option. The Laptop didn't come with a bunchof the usual junk software preloaded. I have had a number of Toshiba's and this isthe best so far. I like to portability and size for travel. The Wifi setup is great, givingbetter connection than I previously had.I would recommend this as a quality buy for anyone!

5Great notebook/laptop, reliable, fast, & quiet!
By NewYorkNY
This is a nice, sturdy laptop. It has the modern elements of a notebook that can perform any function. Right out of the box, the wifi was a breeze to set up. This notebook/laptop is fast, and never gets hot. Even after six hours, the bottom never feels too warm. Good battery life, too. I think I got 6.5 hrs. after a full charge. Also, it runs very quiet. It is the quietest notebook I've ever used. You don't hear the fan running.Audio is great, and the screen is very sharp & clear. I can't even suggest any improvements to this machine! It can be used for gaming, for sure. I don't do gaming, but I did watch a movie. It was crystal clear & the audio was sharp.Five stars.

5Well worth the price.
By Stephen A. Wong
I've been using an old Toshiba laptop for a long time, and it was time I upgraded. I'll start with what I was looking for: a powerful gaming laptop that I could still use for school. I certainly got what I asked for. It's positives are obvious at the very start. Its i5 processor and 4gb of ram make it lightning fast, this is in comparison to my friend's desktop that has several thousand dollars piled into it. I tested a multitude of games on it, Mass Effect 2 ran without a hitch at max settings, Left4Dead2 runs at max, even Starcraft2 on Ultra settings ran cleanly when playing normally (note custom maps are a different story, and if you've ever played a custom you know what I mean...). This of course is only possible because of the lower resolution. Since it's not at full 1080p, it can handle the amount of graphic intensity of high settings. In all honesty I love full hd, and am quite used to it, but the sacrifice of resolution for quality was well worth it. I can easily run any program without any issues, word, photoshop, et. Often enough I'll have a few things running and play starcraft2 at the same time without any slow down, which says a lot. All three ran without any frame rate issues. In terms of the actual look of the laptop, it's sleek and clean, it had no scratches or dings, and everything was intact. the keyboard and the wrist rests are textured, which I really like because it gives me some feeling to when I'm typing et. The extra touch buttons that allow you to turbo boost the cpu (possible since it's an i5) and turn the touchpad on and off are very helpful when you already have a mouse. The size of this laptop allows for a numpad, which I absolutely love because I HATE typing with the 10 button numbers. Also, the fact the keyboard has back light is quite nice in a dark environment. The webcam is good quality as well. For a refurb (after hearing the horror stories), mine is in perfect condition. Now the negatives do exist, this laptop isn't perfect. The chiclet keyboard might be an issue for some, I know it's not much for me but since I'm so used to the responsiveness of a normal keyboard I have to adjust to the change. The speakers are a little low on volume, but all you have to change is the volume equalizer to on in Creative's audio driver. The laptop itself didn't come as I expected, it's black with a small streak of silver instead of the blue. I actually wanted blue as it matches my mouse and I love the color but why be picky, it still looks good. When the laptop came I had some fears instilled in me thanks to my paranoid friend, who told me that some refurbs come with no charger or battery, but I got this from Amazon and my fears were just that. However, even if it came with the charger and battery, what you do not get is the driver dvd, or a Windows disc. Now, this isn't too much of a problem as you can download all the drivers, but if you don't have a Windows disc redoing the system is impossible. Your Windows key is on the bottom of the laptop, but it's useless without the install disc. This issue became relevant as I redid the system because I didn't need or want the extra things installed on it (like roxio burn or some crappy antivirus trial et.). The only actual problem that I have with this laptop is the top edges of the laptop wrap around the screen for a few pixels... thought it was strange design, but it's not noticeable after a day.As for the other negative reviews that I read, they're a bit dumb. The shipping speed is explained when you buy it, they have to build the computer before they send it. The fan is NOT loud, if you're not playing a graphic intensive game there's virtually no noise at all. When you are, the fan does make a bit of noise but seeing as this laptop is built for power it needs to get rid of the heat, but even then it's easily ignorable.Ignore the shipping speed issues, it's a refurb they have to build the computer before they send it hence the "usually ships from 2-3 weeks". Also, who complains about the weight of the laptop when they have it listed under specifications? These complaints wouldn't exist if people could read.Overall, this laptop is one badass puppy for the price (I mean cmon, $800 for a top quality gaming laptop?!?! Other $800 laptops are crap in comparison.). For what it is, I give it a 4.5. It's powerful, practical, and looks good. Well worth the price.

5Best Bang For Your Buck
By Dorison
I bought this lap top after a VERY long search online for the best computer for how much I was willing to spend. My budget was $850, and I was willing to buy either a laptop OR a desktop. I wanted something that was portable because I play games at my friends house's all the time. I also wanted something that can play the games I like to playGames.World of WarcraftStar Craft (1-2)warcraft 3Call of duty 4PortalHalf life 2 +(Episode 1-2)Team Fortress 2Left 4 Dead (1-2)Civ 5 (2-4)and a few others.I have been able to play all these games on ALL HIGH SETTINGS. I get about 45-60 Fps while playing. Even during intense battles where I'm really using the GPU and CPU pretty harshly, It plays cool, and still maintains AT LEAST 45 fps.Pros - VERY good buy, it is the best laptop for this price. I have been looking for a LONG time for something that had a least a tri core CPU running at least 2.2ghz, and a dedicated graphics with at least 512mb dedicated to the GPU. After benchmarking the parts inside this laptop I found that the GPU(graphics processing unit) was in the top tier. There are 3 tiers, tier 1 is the best out there were tier 3 is low end crappy. The CPU, and GPU both scored well on the benchmarks in tier 1. Other people have said that they want more FPS(frames Per Second) out of this laptop. The only way for that to happen is for it to have 2 graphics cards. believe me, 60fps is good, and that's about the most you will get with almost ALL single graphics cards. the processor is very good as well. Its a duel core, running 2.27ghz, but can easily be overclocked to 2.54ghz from inside windows. Asus made a program that you can launch from within windows that makes it easy to overclock your CPU, just as easy as setting the battery to high performance. The other thing is that the CPU also has 4 threads, witch makes it run like a quad core, ex. That's like partitioning your hard drive into 4 partitions! its one hard drive but you have 4 storage areas now. It is a true LED wide screen display, so the rez might not be 1080p but it still looks GREAT. The key board is a chiclet style, all that means is that they buttons are a little smaller and have more space in between them. If you have ever used a mac book pro, its just like that. NOT HARD to get used to at all. within minutes I was typing at normal speeds with it. 4g's of DDR3(GOOD, but can be upgrade to 8g's, witch is GREAT). Hard drive isn't bad, 7200rpm means quick launching and WAY less time in loading screens, plus 500gb of storage isn't bad either. would like 1t but ehhh, now I'm just being picky. (cough) 500gb SSHD/Flash Storage would be nice (cough). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I already know that would jack up the price a grand or two though. . . . any wayCONS - HEAT. . . This thing tends to get a little hot while playing these games with all HIGH setting. I invested $32. on a laptop cooling tray. BELIEVE me, it is worth the investment. It keeps the laptop from overheating and the one i got sits it at an angle witch makes it just that much easier to use. BUY a MICROFIBER CLOTH rag, this thing doesn't attract much dust but the oil from your hands and fingers dose stand out and creates smudges. Plus its always good to keep your com clean ;)other then that this thing has had NO PROBLEMS, Ive had it for 1month and a week. so far so good. not to much bloat ware, wasn't damaged at all when it arrived and runs like a CHAMP. It replaced my desktop as my main computer and like I said is the BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. I looked at Newegg.com for the same laptop, and a few other places, It cost a little more els where, and the ones they had were NOT factory refurbished. Believe me that is a big enough deal, You don't want something sent back to the retailer who just wants it sold. the factory/company that sells it will take the time to make sure that it is fully functional and is LIKE new, they will even replace parts with BRAND NEW ones because they already have them.In short. . best laptop at this price. really good CPU/GPU. Runs like a Champ. CAN replace your desktop. HEATS up, buy a cooling tray. you will not be disappointed with your purchase.

4Nice mid-range gaming laptop / desktop replacement system
By Lucy Cat
I have owned my ASUS G60 for about 10 months, prior to that I owned the previous model (G51) for several months. Overall, my experience has been mostly positive and I would strongly recommend ASUS gaming notebooks for their great features and tremendous value. What I use this computer for:I have used this particular notebook for as a complete desktop replacement system, it is my one and only PC. I do some moderate gaming, namely Call of Duty Black Ops and Modern Warfare II. Additionally, I do a bit of light video editing and audio production (Adobe Premier Elements, Adobe Audition) along with day-to-day internet browsing and word processing. For my purposes, most folks would agree the specs are total overkill but when I feel like playing a new PC game I don't want to have to suffer. The system is a power hog, so don't expect record-breaking battery life (2-3 hours with some power using features disabled, 45 minutes on full blast.) Also, the monitor's max resolution is a little low (1366 x 768) given the size of the screen (16" widescreen.) Below I'll break down some of the pros and cons. Some of my favorite things about this system:- The case is extremely sturdy and has a very substantial feel on the desk. The keyboard feels like a real desktop keyboard and doesn't cause the screen or case to shake or flop around on your desk when you type heavily. This is a huge plus for me, given that I use this as a desktop computer.- The keyboard is backlit with several brightness settings, adjustable using the function keys.- The screen is extremely bright and crisp on its highest lamp setting, but you can also adjust the screen brightness quickly using the function keys. This is a great feature for both battery life and avoiding eye strain.- The video card offers HDMI output to a television or monitor. It also has VGA for older analog monitors and automatically switches to dual monitor output when either port is used.- There is a large heat sink with side case exhaust (not on the underside of the case) which eliminates the need for a laptop cooling pad for most users.- The NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M 1GB graphics card is in fact a discrete, PCI-Express graphics card (x16 bus speed) not an "integrated" or "on-board" graphics card. This, of course, is the prime selling point for any laptop marketed as a "gaming machine."- The Ethernet port is on the back of the machine (thank goodness!) as is the power cord input. Some of my least favorite things about this system:- There are 4 USB 2.0 ports, two located on each side of the case proximal to the user. For right handed users, this means that your USB ports will get directly in the way of your mouse hand if you are using an external mouse (and of course you would be considering this is a gaming laptop) Bad case design, ASUS!- The audio jacks are located (of course) on the right side of the case, proximal to the user. So, if you plug in your headset/mic you'll be cluttering your mouse pad with unruly wires which conveniently get in the way of everything. Bad case design, ASUS!- The audio jacks are *very* poorly constructed. The headphone jack microswitch is extremely likely to become "stuck" rendering your built-in speakers useless (more on this below.)Major issues/complaints:I only have one major issue or complaint with this laptop (and all the other ASUS laptops for that matter, since this issue is not limited to just this model.) The headphone jack microswitch has a strong tendency to become "stuck." What I mean by this is that when you plug in headphones or external speakers to the headphone jack, two pins (the microswitch) are suppressed which tell the motherboard to direct sound into the device you've plugged in. When you remove the headphone/speakers, the two pins should "pop" back out to an unsuppressed position which tell the motherboard to direct sound to the laptop's built in speakers. In this ASUS model (and most other ASUS models) this microswitch is faulty and easily damaged. In other words, when you unplug your headphones/speakers the switch remains suppressed and the built-in speakers never get "told" to turn back on. The end result: you have to use headphones or external speakers to hear any sound. This is a common, widespread and known defect with the Realtek on-board sound card in these systems and cannot be easily fixed or replaced, since a full motherboard replacement would be needed. So, it's something you should just be prepared to live with. Overall, it's merely a nuisance and not a terribly debilitating defect.Summary and Rating:To wrap things up, this is a great mid-range gaming system at a great price. You get a high end graphics card, a great sturdy case with a bright screen and some great little features. There are some cons with the layout of ports and such, and of course, that unruly headphone jack. But overall, I think you'd be quite pleased with the performance vs. price of this system.

4Lenovo Z560 Review
By sunshineop
Compared to other laptops in the price range, this laptop gets you the most bang for your buck.Pros:The i5 480m is a workhorse ready to blaze through your processing tasks.A modest 500gb hard drive waiting to store all your files and media.4gb of RAM provide decent space for power-hungry apps.Energy efficient.Durable shell.Noise suppressed fan mode.FAST boot time. (when bloatware is removed)Keypad.Island keys.2 USB and 1 SATA/USB port.Cons:Loads of bloatware.CD drive doesn't stay flush with trim.Lower end graphics for gaming. While not quite an Alienware, this laptop is great for personal or business use. An ideal choice to replace desktop workstations. However, the mediocre graphics (intel integrated) are the only thing holding this powerhouse from reaching its full potential. HIGHLY recommended for students and anyone looking for an upgrade at a decent price.

5Great Laptop for Students
By Jose Acevedo
It has been about 8 months and my computer runs as if it is brand new. I love the Veriface Logon system. It only allows you to logon on by scanning your eyes. It is 100% accurate. The laptop batter is average if you are running on normal settings. The great thing about this laptop is that not only does this have a energy saver mode (activated by the touch pad on the top right of the keyboard) it has super energy saver. This allows you to fine tune your computers performance to optimize the battery's life.Audio is great and the speakers are awesome.I recommend this laptop to any college student or anyone who loves the Lenovo/IBM brand. This is a must buy and a very underrated laptop.

5Perfect laptop
By wy
After using this laptop for 2 weeks, I am totaly satisfied with it. The new hp envy sb version has all aluminum chassis and feels vry solid. Windows boots up in 18 seconds. Running program as fast as average desktop. Here is some feedback:The screen: some one may complain this laptop never comes with radiance display anymore. Actually, the bright view screen is great, and it's even brighter and has more vibrate color than my wife's macbook pro.The touchpad: This sandy bridge refresh version has a nearly as good as macbook touchpad. Multigesture, two finger scroll and pinch zoom all work smoothly. Just remember don't update the synaptics drive. New driver doesn't support double-tab to turn off touchpad feature.Battery life: If you set the brightness to 60%, and just normal use, the out of box battery lasts about 5 hours. If you turn off the bluetooth and wifi, battery should last even longer. Finally the noise: Normal using won't produce much noise. You need to put your ear at the air vents to hear it. It does has some noise when playing games, but tolerable.Purchased from amazon, and happy to deal with them.

3Poor trackpad and screen ruin an otherwise excellent notebook
By saturnotaku
The Envy 14 has a lot going for it. It's a great size, has a backlit keyboard that's a pleasure to type on, and is built very well. Further, HP has released a BIOS update to address the issue of 3D applications and games not working properly with AMD's automatic graphic switching. The solution essentially reverts back to manual switching where the user has control of which graphics processing unit (GPU) he or she wants to use. It can also be set up to run on the high-performance AMD Radeon dedicated GPU (dGPU) when the machine is plugged in and switch over to the power-saving Intel integrated GPU (iGPU) when running on battery. This is basically how graphic switching works on older Envy 14 notebooks (model number 14-1xxx).Regrettably, I had to send this notebook back for a pair of deal-breaking issues. First and foremost, the trackpad (or clickpad as it's dubbed by HP and part supplier Synaptics), is awful. HP has tried to emulate the Apple MacBook Pro in this area, and having previously owned a MBP, the Envy fails miserably. After trying many different drivers and settings, I simply could not get the trackpad to perform and respond smoothly and predictably. The final annoyance is the orange light that activates whenever you disable the pad, either on its own or by plugging in a USB mouse. The second major problem is the screen itself. The resolution of 1366x768 isn't a huge issue for me, but at one point, HP did offer the Envy 14 with a high-resolution (1600x900) "Radiance" display that was of excellent quality and color reproduction. The screen in the current model, though not the worst I've ever seen, is sub-standard for something that's marketed as a premium product. Even with a lot of tweaking, the colors are pretty dull. It's also more reflective than other glossy notebooks I've seen and used, which makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to use outside. In the end, a couple missteps in overall execution make it a less-than-ideal choice for my use.

1HP Envy 14-2020NR
By Bradley
I recently purchased 4 of these laptops for our business. We work with 3D CAD drawings. This laptop has no problem running the 3d CAD programs. The display brightness is bright for the user. The bottom of the laptop stays cool. I like the lights on the keyboard helps me see the keys in low lit areas. I also like the usb port on the power adapter because i can charge my ipad with it (ipad cord isn't long enough to make to the outlet). I haven't had much time to test the sound out.Dislike:One of the laptop's underscore key doesn't work you have to press it 10 times to get it to type once. Screen viewing angle not the greatest.Overall I would recommend this laptop to anyone.EDIT:RUN SAVE YOURSELF. THE SCREEN ON ALL FOUR LAPTOPS WE BOUGHT GOT SCRATCHED BY THE LIP AROUND THE KEYBOARD. ONE LAPTOP THE SOUND CRAPPED OUT AND NOW SOUNDS LIKE DONALD PLEASENCE in the movie GROUND ZERO. THREE OF THE LAPTOPS HAVE A KEY THAT DOESN'T WORK UNLESS POUNDED ON. HP TOLD ME I COULD SEND THEM BACK AND HAVE THE SCREENS REPLACED,BUT IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT TWO WEEKS WELL I LIVE OUTSIDE THE US BESIDE I NEED MY LAPTOP EVERYDAY FOR WORK.CONCLUSION: ITS NOT A KEEPEREDIT 2:Wireless networking passed away on one of the laptops...can't wait to see whats next
